Theme info
Depending on the use of WP within the site and the type of site the choice of the theme is very important. Eye tried many themes and variations before deciding on ‘Gray Gets Green’ by Fred Banuelos, initially we wanted to stay away from grey but thought the colours of the theme suited the laid back approach of Eye.
One other important issue was it’s structure, in the background the theme is very easy to implement any code changes and it doesn’t need any third party plugins to work as it should, it’s very clean and quite minimal in its build, perfect for the changes we needed.
Obviously we couldn’t try all the themes available as there are thousands of WP themes so you have to stop somewhere in your search, even as Gray Gets Green was being prepared for Eye we were still looking at other themes as they were released, which is daily, not necessarily to change any decision about it but to offer a ‘Dark on Light’ alternative for users, time was against us, for the time being anyway, and we briefly tested the fantastic Subtle theme from the excellent Glued Ideas which in the future will be the theme offered as an alternative.
For us Gray Gets Green has been a very good choice and we are more than happy with it, it has been extremely stable whatever code changes we throw at it, thanks Fred.
